dangerdoom - the mouse and the mask

mixture: 　　dj dangermouse 及 mf doom 既 side project， 佢地玩 mixture 既野，唔同平時聽到 hiphop 既類型，所以我會聽得唔係咁入耳，但我都會接受下，突然多左幾多 mixture 系既 hiphop。　dj dangermouse 就係用左 beatles 既 white album 及 jay-z 既 black album，mix 左隻 grey album 成名，型！！！　hiphop 就可以咁了，將 d 野 mix 來 mix 去，正啊！！！　mf doom 就係美國玩開 hiphop 既，其中之一個成員死左，就自己出黎玩了，此碟亦搵左 talib kweil，ghostface，cee-lo featuring 一番，大家有興趣試一試，此碟唔係特別貴，其他個 d 就要百幾了.....不過可能大家對hiphop麻麻。　<>-- edmond aka kurt0504@上一代

transelement - 8 songs about travel

krautrock/indie-rock:　　 hell. i really wish i could turn back time. when the late great transelement was still there. one of the overlooked talented groups from england. sadly they've disbanded in 2004. this is their last official release.

　　with a not-so-prolific career of releasing 4 albums in 10 years, they've built up their own path on the footsteps of very varied influences. from aphex twin to beach boys to can.
so you can imagine how does their music sound like. one that you can never imagine.

　　their songs are highly eclectic. i can never guess what does the end of each track sound like. 'razy breakbeats meets beach boys-esque harmony meets boredoms-esque
psychedelic blasts' you may get something like this. weird as it sounds, but it's the mere creativity and catchy melodies that haunt you.

god is an astronaut - all is violent, all is bright

post -rock:　　a follow-up to their debut, released in 2005. though moving in rather the similar direction, it's a much more refined work of the trio. so affectious that makes you feel like you're floating in space while looking down the earth witnessing the decay of human civilization.

　　delicate, intricate, passionate, atmospheric. i can write a lot more dramatic words about the music, but once you're listening you won't even care. it's a masterpiece. truly so beautiful. stop your work and go to buy it. i really mean it.

　　p.s. the video in this advanced cd is simply a documentary of catastrophic/violent events. really fits in the music itself. yay, if you're filming a documentary for the history of mankind, use this as your theme music.　--kirk

post-rock:　　a post rock/space rock trio from ireland. this is their debut. filled with melodic guitar washes, beautiful piano arpeggios &occasional 'dancey' beats. bleak. infectious. introspective. it makes me think of a strip down version of early works by mogwai. quite a good album.　--kirk

dustin o'halloran - piano solos

classical:　　dustin o'halloran, half the soul of dark pop band the devics, has gone solo. piano solo. taciturnly.

　　a 1930s restored sabel and a vulnerable heart.

　　upon the first note i'm paralysed from inside. that's the signatory romanticism bewildering me. the vast notes sew a dream. a dream of endless loneliness and nostalgia.
it's immediately reminiscent of debussy, satie and ravel. but there's no another "clair de lune", and dustin's no impressionistic giant. no self-indulge virtuoso inside.

　　listen to the opus as a whole. only to find the highly repetitive and dreamy sound
build up a hazy, evocative atmosphere. let yourself immersed into the gentle washes between his fingers. "what a dreary day it was," you think.　--kirk

my little airport - 只因當時太緊張

indie -pop:　　繼上年既在動物園散步才是正經事之後,今年第二隻碟: 只因當時太緊張,起初諗住都係清新野為主, 但係聽左之後,佢地既style有些少轉變了,有d歌幾guitar noise,例如: gi gi leung is dead, 佢地都講可能受the libertines影響.....今次會有d電他野聽 (只因當時太緊張),當然今次仍有清新野啦(你的微笑像朵花),佢地填詞及曲式開始似似 地amk了,我聽聞有d人聽左幾次就冇聽,又話想放去二手....但係我覺得此碟此起上一隻比較好聽,同埋曲式成熟左!!!我就係鍾意nichole個把 懶洋洋既聲....如果用正經腔去唱,反而冇咁好聽.....維港唱片近幾年已經成為香港本地label之一,但係大眾既聽聚幾時先發現本地indie有 d咁好既band呢?!

ladytron - witching hour

electro-pop:　　yes!!! 電子淑女的剛剛發表的第三張大碟《witching hour》到手！　ladytron除了是electroclash 狂潮下的倖存生還者，而音樂方面亦更上一層樓。電音依然冷酷，旋律節奏更令人鍾愛。

　 　正如主將 daniel hunt 接受 mcb 時所形容新唱片為一張有點 my bloody valentine 影響作品，注意第七首曲目"sugar", intro 部份的撕裂趺盪結他riff，有點mbv的"soon", "when you sleep", "only shadow"風格，歌曲本身仍甚為搶耳。另外亦頗mbv味道的可說是第十二首曲目"whiteligthgenerator"，輕盈美妙的調子更是一聽 難忘，不想望神６便想到太空。"the last one standing"，"destroy everything you touch", "international dateline"亦是非常急激舞動的作品。"all the way...", "soft power", "fighting in built up area", "beauty*2"亦非人性化的cool得相當有型。

tosca - j.a.c.

electronica:　　來自維也納前身為 ”dehli 9”，直至1994年發表處女作後名為”tosca”，前陣子發表了他們的最新大碟"j.a.c"。所感受到的是down tempo下男聲的囈語與跳脫結他旋律合拼之下的和諧。

　 　宇宙之大，聲音是零零碎碎的滑行在耳腔之內，意境如神州六昇空，在bass line底蘊下有把聲音告訴你「學問」普通話是怎麼，乍聽之下有點驚訝。”damentag”的結他曲式總讓人聯想油脂時代的舞池到底聽上來仍是有股跳躍 感。以民族鼓帶領進入ambient狀態的”naschkatze”請問你準備好放鬆沒有？

　　每張唱碟每種音樂都有它存在的意義，不知道這個言過其實的唱片封套能吸引幾多消費者，也許這樣說會圓滑點，如半夜三更，如在pub/club，如在閱讀或在進行一些靜態的為行／地方，都可以考慮播放這張唱片。　--fc



v.a. - help: a day in the life

compilation: 　　一九九五年前由 war child 發起為牽連於戰火中的兒童籌款的 help! 合輯距今已經整整十個年頭，當時有份參與合輯的單位可謂星級陣容，有 oasis, the stone roses, radiohead, portishead, massive attack, suede, the charlatans, the chemical brothers, manic street preachers, blur 等名字（大部分今天還健在呢！）。　到今年，war child 決定再發動結集 help: a day in the life 合輯。　眾多參與樂團雖然身處不同地方，但大都把錄製完成的歌曲經互聯網收集起來，比起 help! 的六日製作，今次只用了 30 小時而已（由錄音至網上收費下載）。

　　今趟獲邀的單位並不算是很巨星級，而是近年甚至乎近幾個月在英倫掘起的新音樂單位（當中的 babyshambles 更是還未推出其處男專輯的呢），new wave/post-punk 的代表有 maximo park, kaiser chiefs, bloc party, hard-fi, razorlight 等，brit-pop 的代表有 coldplay, elbow, keane，有唱作人 damien rice，亦有利物浦之音的 the zutons 和 the coral 。　除此之外 radiohead, the manic street preachers, belle and sebastine, gorillaz 等老牌子也獻出了新作品。　比較令人意外的是有 the go! team, tinariwen, mylo 和曾受戰火洗禮亦當過童兵的黑人 rapper emmanuel jal 等不同音樂風格單位的參與。

　　碟中的話題作，如 coldplay 觸動人心的 how you see the world no. 2，該曲原是 x & y 日本版的 bonus track，現重填上新歌詞，警世非常。　radiohead 的 i want none of this 就跟 we suck young blood 般，夢囈的聲線伴著孤寂的鋼琴，異常蒼涼。　keane &amp; faultline 重玩了 elton john 的 goodbye yellow brick road，gorillaz 亦專程到港錄製的 hong kong，另外碟末有 george & antony 重玩 john lennon 的 happy christmas, war is over 亦總算打了一個貼題的句號。

　　雖然合輯只有七十餘分鐘的長度，卻可算是勾畫出今天英倫樂圈的新面貌。　雖然碟價非十分大眾，但只聽二十多個單位的新作品已經值回票價，可況是為戰地兒童籌款的，值得支持。

electronica: 　　封面和包裝都精美得叫令人愛不釋手，音樂上更是清新脫俗。　深受古樂和後搖滾薰陶的日本女生 sawako（佐和子）打造的 debut album 01 被形容為 mogwai 跟 aphex twin 遇上 bach，溫婉的電音卻令人聯想到 fennesz 的電音氛圍和 mum 的娓娓之聲。　碟中女聲和唱更是動人，一張不平凡的 indie electronica 處女 album。　-- noclan10

paavoharju - yha hamaraa

avant -folk:　　芬蘭音樂確實無奇不有，繼 kiila, avarus, paivansade 同 lau nau 之後，呢場唔知咩事既 avant-folk 運動，現在由呢隻 paavoharju 既 debut 接捧。　呢壇野 psych, piano ballad, breakbeats, ambient 兼而有之，恕我技窮無法形容佢地既音樂...一切都太過瘋狂太過震撼。　試想像 cocorosie 既 lo-fi, the charalambides 既 crooning, bjork 既異國風情......　實在係無懈可擊既 debut!!!　-- godnatt!

sigur ros - takk

post -rock:　　02 年的 ( ) 後，sigur ros 先後跟不同的藝術媒體合作，如 merce cunningham dance company、royal danish ballet、為動畫短片配樂等，這類合作為他們的音樂帶來更多的可能性。　最明顯是鋼片琴的運用，跟 merce cunningham 合作的 ep《ba ba ti ki di do》已經顯露出來，於新碟《takk…》更發揮得淋漓盡致。　當然 sigur ros 舊有的獨特元素依然健在，主音 jonsi 孤高的歌聲（今次除 hopelandic 外，部份歌曲是唱回 icelandic）、蒼白的氛圍、拉結他所產生出的某種宇宙間和諧的聲音、amina string quartet 優美的弦樂，某幾首歌更會搖滾起來。《takk…》是一張典雅與搖滾，溫柔與暴烈兼備的唱片。　-- 發條鳥

hitchcock gohome - yes you're dead

post -rock:　　法國五人樂團的處女專輯，風格介乎於 folk、post-rock 與 shoegazer 之間。　一行五人中除鼓手外，結他手已佔了四位（當中一位 bass 手）。　音樂上他們偏向以純真軍樂器演繹，在結他和五絃琴 banjo 的主導下奏出充滿異國色彩而帶古幽氣息。　end of me 一曲有如慢步於月光之下的挽歌，碟尾的他們卻像 shoegazer 樂團般暴烈起來。　驚喜雖不大卻別具一格的 folk-post-rock 專輯。　-- noclan10

goldfrapp - supernature

electronica:　　2003 一張 ”black cherry” 令樂迷改變對 goldfrapp 看法，從 chill out轉型到 electro，直到 ”supernature” 決定了 goldfrapp 的音樂取向。

　 　電子舞曲加添了艷麗的 glam-rock 原素，說到底 ”ooh la la” 本樂就是一個快樂的音階在 ”i need la la la la la i need ooo la la” 之下，又怎能不愉悅，不渴求多一會舞動？　electro-dance 的 ”lovely 2 c u”、”ride a white horse” 青春迫人的活力呈現在每一下重拍，beat beat 激動！　由 chill out 時代已証明屬靚聲派的 alison，於 ”you never know”、”let it take you”、”time out from the world” 再次玩盡高、低、輕、唱腔。　”fly me away” 節奏輕快，流爽而甜美最好形用今時今日該唱片封面女郎（alison）銳變的形象。　滑稽的鍵琴聲奏出跳脫爽朗舞曲到底這首 ”satin chic” 始終是在形用一個「傻佬」。

　　goldfrapp 的魅力非在於 alison 現在狂野外表之下而引人注目，而是本身一把聲線和另一位成員 will gregory 跟她的音樂默契所打造出來的二人單位，不知道再過兩年，alison又會出什麼花樣帶給我們新驚喜呢？　這半裸的圖配上唱片內容的歌詞，對不起我又想將她 跟「候生女」時期的 madonna 混為一談了。　--fc

林海峰 - 三字頭

hk -indie:　　講林海峰,都係講佢既cover design及有咩人做班底，cover design 次次都有驚喜，亦有出主題。上次有成個人咁高既 figure 之前有冼撲，mod look…　今次就踢波為主題，仿人造草包住成隻碟，設計已經一流亦用左好多心機去做,成本應該唔野少的。

　　書仔入面亦有個球 場....感覺不錯，班底有陳奐仁，糯米糰個個，swing，農夫，site access，dj tommy 及阿 jun 冇左王雙駿撐場，就搵陳奐仁頂上，但係陳奐仁此名已經知道都抄抄地野架喇，繼上次陳冠西大碟入面有d 歌抄決明子後。　今次林狗大碟,男子組及億萬少年彼得潘，前者就抄抄地，nelly feat kelly rowland 既 dilema 而後者就抄 n.e.r.d 既 lapdance 我都唔知佢係明抄定做 reference。 屌!!!!!! 成隻碟中，都係喜愛三字頭，維園阿伯，新浪漫及流行曲。　流行曲已經聽左好多次，真係好正，詞正曲正，從d歌詞睇得出，林海峰唔想老，停留d個階段。

　　隻碟附送dvd，講番兒時d野，都幾好睇。　此碟其實幾抵，95蚊....cd+dvd，當然我係軟硬 fans，林海峰及阿葛既野都會去留意，林海峰隻隻碟都有，相信今隻算係比較差而已，水準只屬一般可能衰在搵陳奐仁而已。

　　推薦度: 五粒星(本地製作,必屬皆作)

electroserge - to those i hold dear

electronica:　　to those i hold dear 是來自德國廠牌 normoton 的一男一女電子組合的第二張專輯。　聽過他們兩年前發表的 whispertime (sample) 後，覺得只用 electronica 來歸納他們的音樂總是不夠意思。　除了基本的 laptop sampling 加上結他外，還蟄伏著有 indie-pop（有時像 club8 般清新）、electro-pop、ambient、dance 甚至 post-rock 的原素（在他們的簡介內可以找到 my bloody valentine 和 lali puna 等名字）。　但無論加入甚麼，他們總能沖泡出一首首美好的曲調，可口非常，不太和諧卻動聽、有溫婉亦有冰冷。　-- noclan10

supergrass - road to rouen
rock: 　　supergrass, a name belongs to a brit-rock quartet from oxford. their 5th album “road to rouen” was recorded in the french city, rouen, in normandie. anyone's listened to “road to rouen” would use the words “grow up” or “mature” to describe supergrass’ music as well as lyric of this latest album. “grass” successfully combines the elements of psychedelic, glam rock and folk etc. into their music, lively track as “tales of endurance”, beautiful as “st. petersburg”, blue as “sad girl”, catchy as “roxy”, glam as “road to rouen”, funny as “coffee in a pot”, psychedelic as “kick in the teeth”, folk as “low c”, soft as “fin” to put an end to the album. besides, it’s not hard to notice the ghost of the beatles in some of their pieces of music. 9 tracks but great enough.　-- 糖
