dangerdoom - the mouse and the mask

mixture: 　　dj dangermouse 及 mf doom 既 side project， 佢地玩 mixture 既野，唔同平時聽到 hiphop 既類型，所以我會聽得唔係咁入耳，但我都會接受下，突然多左幾多 mixture 系既 hiphop。　dj dangermouse 就係用左 beatles 既 white album 及 jay-z 既 black album，mix 左隻 grey album 成名，型！！！　hiphop 就可以咁了，將 d 野 mix 來 mix 去，正啊！！！　mf doom 就係美國玩開 hiphop 既，其中之一個成員死左，就自己出黎玩了，此碟亦搵左 talib kweil，ghostface，cee-lo featuring 一番，大家有興趣試一試，此碟唔係特別貴，其他個 d 就要百幾了.....不過可能大家對hiphop麻麻。　<>-- edmond aka kurt0504@上一代

transelement - 8 songs about travel

krautrock/indie-rock:　　 hell. i really wish i could turn back time. when the late great transelement was still there. one of the overlooked talented groups from england. sadly they've disbanded in 2004. this is their last official release.

　　with a not-so-prolific career of releasing 4 albums in 10 years, they've built up their own path on the footsteps of very varied influences. from aphex twin to beach boys to can.
so you can imagine how does their music sound like. one that you can never imagine.

　　their songs are highly eclectic. i can never guess what does the end of each track sound like. 'razy breakbeats meets beach boys-esque harmony meets boredoms-esque
psychedelic blasts' you may get something like this. weird as it sounds, but it's the mere creativity and catchy melodies that haunt you.

god is an astronaut - all is violent, all is bright

post -rock:　　a follow-up to their debut, released in 2005. though moving in rather the similar direction, it's a much more refined work of the trio. so affectious that makes you feel like you're floating in space while looking down the earth witnessing the decay of human civilization.

　　delicate, intricate, passionate, atmospheric. i can write a lot more dramatic words about the music, but once you're listening you won't even care. it's a masterpiece. truly so beautiful. stop your work and go to buy it. i really mean it.

　　p.s. the video in this advanced cd is simply a documentary of catastrophic/violent events. really fits in the music itself. yay, if you're filming a documentary for the history of mankind, use this as your theme music.　--kirk

post-rock:　　a post rock/space rock trio from ireland. this is their debut. filled with melodic guitar washes, beautiful piano arpeggios &occasional 'dancey' beats. bleak. infectious. introspective. it makes me think of a strip down version of early works by mogwai. quite a good album.　--kirk

dustin o'halloran - piano solos

classical:　　dustin o'halloran, half the soul of dark pop band the devics, has gone solo. piano solo. taciturnly.

　　a 1930s restored sabel and a vulnerable heart.

　　upon the first note i'm paralysed from inside. that's the signatory romanticism bewildering me. the vast notes sew a dream. a dream of endless loneliness and nostalgia.
it's immediately reminiscent of debussy, satie and ravel. but there's no another "clair de lune", and dustin's no impressionistic giant. no self-indulge virtuoso inside.

　　listen to the opus as a whole. only to find the highly repetitive and dreamy sound
build up a hazy, evocative atmosphere. let yourself immersed into the gentle washes between his fingers. "what a dreary day it was," you think.　--kirk

my little airport - 只因當時太緊張

indie -pop:　　繼上年既在動物園散步才是正經事之後,今年第二隻碟: 只因當時太緊張,起初諗住都係清新野為主, 但係聽左之後,佢地既style有些少轉變了,有d歌幾guitar noise,例如: gi gi leung is dead, 佢地都講可能受the libertines影響.....今次會有d電他野聽 (只因當時太緊張),當然今次仍有清新野啦(你的微笑像朵花),佢地填詞及曲式開始似似 地amk了,我聽聞有d人聽左幾次就冇聽,又話想放去二手....但係我覺得此碟此起上一隻比較好聽,同埋曲式成熟左!!!我就係鍾意nichole個把 懶洋洋既聲....如果用正經腔去唱,反而冇咁好聽.....維港唱片近幾年已經成為香港本地label之一,但係大眾既聽聚幾時先發現本地indie有 d咁好既band呢?!

ladytron - witching hour

electro-pop:　　yes!!! 電子淑女的剛剛發表的第三張大碟《witching hour》到手！　ladytron除了是electroclash 狂潮下的倖存生還者，而音樂方面亦更上一層樓。電音依然冷酷，旋律節奏更令人鍾愛。

　 　正如主將 daniel hunt 接受 mcb 時所形容新唱片為一張有點 my bloody valentine 影響作品，注意第七首曲目"sugar", intro 部份的撕裂趺盪結他riff，有點mbv的"soon", "when you sleep", "only shadow"風格，歌曲本身仍甚為搶耳。另外亦頗mbv味道的可說是第十二首曲目"whiteligthgenerator"，輕盈美妙的調子更是一聽 難忘，不想望神６便想到太空。"the last one standing"，"destroy everything you touch", "international dateline"亦是非常急激舞動的作品。"all the way...", "soft power", "fighting in built up area", "beauty*2"亦非人性化的cool得相當有型。

tosca - j.a.c.

electronica:　　來自維也納前身為 ”dehli 9”，直至1994年發表處女作後名為”tosca”，前陣子發表了他們的最新大碟"j.a.c"。所感受到的是down tempo下男聲的囈語與跳脫結他旋律合拼之下的和諧。

　 　宇宙之大，聲音是零零碎碎的滑行在耳腔之內，意境如神州六昇空，在bass line底蘊下有把聲音告訴你「學問」普通話是怎麼，乍聽之下有點驚訝。”damentag”的結他曲式總讓人聯想油脂時代的舞池到底聽上來仍是有股跳躍 感。以民族鼓帶領進入ambient狀態的”naschkatze”請問你準備好放鬆沒有？

　　每張唱碟每種音樂都有它存在的意義，不知道這個言過其實的唱片封套能吸引幾多消費者，也許這樣說會圓滑點，如半夜三更，如在pub/club，如在閱讀或在進行一些靜態的為行／地方，都可以考慮播放這張唱片。　--fc



v.a. - help: a day in the life

compilation: 　　一九九五年前由 war child 發起為牽連於戰火中的兒童籌款的 help! 合輯距今已經整整十個年頭，當時有份參與合輯的單位可謂星級陣容，有 oasis, the stone roses, radiohead, portishead, massive attack, suede, the charlatans, the chemical brothers, manic street preachers, blur 等名字（大部分今天還健在呢！）。　到今年，war child 決定再發動結集 help: a day in the life 合輯。　眾多參與樂團雖然身處不同地方，但大都把錄製完成的歌曲經互聯網收集起來，比起 help! 的六日製作，今次只用了 30 小時而已（由錄音至網上收費下載）。

　　今趟獲邀的單位並不算是很巨星級，而是近年甚至乎近幾個月在英倫掘起的新音樂單位（當中的 babyshambles 更是還未推出其處男專輯的呢），new wave/post-punk 的代表有 maximo park, kaiser chiefs, bloc party, hard-fi, razorlight 等，brit-pop 的代表有 coldplay, elbow, keane，有唱作人 damien rice，亦有利物浦之音的 the zutons 和 the coral 。　除此之外 radiohead, the manic street preachers, belle and sebastine, gorillaz 等老牌子也獻出了新作品。　比較令人意外的是有 the go! team, tinariwen, mylo 和曾受戰火洗禮亦當過童兵的黑人 rapper emmanuel jal 等不同音樂風格單位的參與。

　　碟中的話題作，如 coldplay 觸動人心的 how you see the world no. 2，該曲原是 x & y 日本版的 bonus track，現重填上新歌詞，警世非常。　radiohead 的 i want none of this 就跟 we suck young blood 般，夢囈的聲線伴著孤寂的鋼琴，異常蒼涼。　keane &amp; faultline 重玩了 elton john 的 goodbye yellow brick road，gorillaz 亦專程到港錄製的 hong kong，另外碟末有 george & antony 重玩 john lennon 的 happy christmas, war is over 亦總算打了一個貼題的句號。

　　雖然合輯只有七十餘分鐘的長度，卻可算是勾畫出今天英倫樂圈的新面貌。　雖然碟價非十分大眾，但只聽二十多個單位的新作品已經值回票價，可況是為戰地兒童籌款的，值得支持。

electronica: 　　封面和包裝都精美得叫令人愛不釋手，音樂上更是清新脫俗。　深受古樂和後搖滾薰陶的日本女生 sawako（佐和子）打造的 debut album 01 被形容為 mogwai 跟 aphex twin 遇上 bach，溫婉的電音卻令人聯想到 fennesz 的電音氛圍和 mum 的娓娓之聲。　碟中女聲和唱更是動人，一張不平凡的 indie electronica 處女 album。　-- noclan10

paavoharju - yha hamaraa

avant -folk:　　芬蘭音樂確實無奇不有，繼 kiila, avarus, paivansade 同 lau nau 之後，呢場唔知咩事既 avant-folk 運動，現在由呢隻 paavoharju 既 debut 接捧。　呢壇野 psych, piano ballad, breakbeats, ambient 兼而有之，恕我技窮無法形容佢地既音樂...一切都太過瘋狂太過震撼。　試想像 cocorosie 既 lo-fi, the charalambides 既 crooning, bjork 既異國風情......　實在係無懈可擊既 debut!!!　-- godnatt!

sigur ros - takk

post -rock:　　02 年的 ( ) 後，sigur ros 先後跟不同的藝術媒體合作，如 merce cunningham dance company、royal danish ballet、為動畫短片配樂等，這類合作為他們的音樂帶來更多的可能性。　最明顯是鋼片琴的運用，跟 merce cunningham 合作的 ep《ba ba ti ki di do》已經顯露出來，於新碟《takk…》更發揮得淋漓盡致。　當然 sigur ros 舊有的獨特元素依然健在，主音 jonsi 孤高的歌聲（今次除 hopelandic 外，部份歌曲是唱回 icelandic）、蒼白的氛圍、拉結他所產生出的某種宇宙間和諧的聲音、amina string quartet 優美的弦樂，某幾首歌更會搖滾起來。《takk…》是一張典雅與搖滾，溫柔與暴烈兼備的唱片。　-- 發條鳥

hitchcock gohome - yes you're dead

post -rock:　　法國五人樂團的處女專輯，風格介乎於 folk、post-rock 與 shoegazer 之間。　一行五人中除鼓手外，結他手已佔了四位（當中一位 bass 手）。　音樂上他們偏向以純真軍樂器演繹，在結他和五絃琴 banjo 的主導下奏出充滿異國色彩而帶古幽氣息。　end of me 一曲有如慢步於月光之下的挽歌，碟尾的他們卻像 shoegazer 樂團般暴烈起來。　驚喜雖不大卻別具一格的 folk-post-rock 專輯。　-- noclan10

goldfrapp - supernature

electronica:　　2003 一張 ”black cherry” 令樂迷改變對 goldfrapp 看法，從 chill out轉型到 electro，直到 ”supernature” 決定了 goldfrapp 的音樂取向。

　 　電子舞曲加添了艷麗的 glam-rock 原素，說到底 ”ooh la la” 本樂就是一個快樂的音階在 ”i need la la la la la i need ooo la la” 之下，又怎能不愉悅，不渴求多一會舞動？　electro-dance 的 ”lovely 2 c u”、”ride a white horse” 青春迫人的活力呈現在每一下重拍，beat beat 激動！　由 chill out 時代已証明屬靚聲派的 alison，於 ”you never know”、”let it take you”、”time out from the world” 再次玩盡高、低、輕、唱腔。　”fly me away” 節奏輕快，流爽而甜美最好形用今時今日該唱片封面女郎（alison）銳變的形象。　滑稽的鍵琴聲奏出跳脫爽朗舞曲到底這首 ”satin chic” 始終是在形用一個「傻佬」。

　　goldfrapp 的魅力非在於 alison 現在狂野外表之下而引人注目，而是本身一把聲線和另一位成員 will gregory 跟她的音樂默契所打造出來的二人單位，不知道再過兩年，alison又會出什麼花樣帶給我們新驚喜呢？　這半裸的圖配上唱片內容的歌詞，對不起我又想將她 跟「候生女」時期的 madonna 混為一談了。　--fc

林海峰 - 三字頭

hk -indie:　　講林海峰,都係講佢既cover design及有咩人做班底，cover design 次次都有驚喜，亦有出主題。上次有成個人咁高既 figure 之前有冼撲，mod look…　今次就踢波為主題，仿人造草包住成隻碟，設計已經一流亦用左好多心機去做,成本應該唔野少的。

　　書仔入面亦有個球 場....感覺不錯，班底有陳奐仁，糯米糰個個，swing，農夫，site access，dj tommy 及阿 jun 冇左王雙駿撐場，就搵陳奐仁頂上，但係陳奐仁此名已經知道都抄抄地野架喇，繼上次陳冠西大碟入面有d 歌抄決明子後。　今次林狗大碟,男子組及億萬少年彼得潘，前者就抄抄地，nelly feat kelly rowland 既 dilema 而後者就抄 n.e.r.d 既 lapdance 我都唔知佢係明抄定做 reference。 屌!!!!!! 成隻碟中，都係喜愛三字頭，維園阿伯，新浪漫及流行曲。　流行曲已經聽左好多次，真係好正，詞正曲正，從d歌詞睇得出，林海峰唔想老，停留d個階段。

　　隻碟附送dvd，講番兒時d野，都幾好睇。　此碟其實幾抵，95蚊....cd+dvd，當然我係軟硬 fans，林海峰及阿葛既野都會去留意，林海峰隻隻碟都有，相信今隻算係比較差而已，水準只屬一般可能衰在搵陳奐仁而已。

　　推薦度: 五粒星(本地製作,必屬皆作)

electroserge - to those i hold dear

electronica:　　to those i hold dear 是來自德國廠牌 normoton 的一男一女電子組合的第二張專輯。　聽過他們兩年前發表的 whispertime (sample) 後，覺得只用 electronica 來歸納他們的音樂總是不夠意思。　除了基本的 laptop sampling 加上結他外，還蟄伏著有 indie-pop（有時像 club8 般清新）、electro-pop、ambient、dance 甚至 post-rock 的原素（在他們的簡介內可以找到 my bloody valentine 和 lali puna 等名字）。　但無論加入甚麼，他們總能沖泡出一首首美好的曲調，可口非常，不太和諧卻動聽、有溫婉亦有冰冷。　-- noclan10

supergrass - road to rouen
rock: 　　supergrass, a name belongs to a brit-rock quartet from oxford. their 5th album “road to rouen” was recorded in the french city, rouen, in normandie. anyone's listened to “road to rouen” would use the words “grow up” or “mature” to describe supergrass’ music as well as lyric of this latest album. “grass” successfully combines the elements of psychedelic, glam rock and folk etc. into their music, lively track as “tales of endurance”, beautiful as “st. petersburg”, blue as “sad girl”, catchy as “roxy”, glam as “road to rouen”, funny as “coffee in a pot”, psychedelic as “kick in the teeth”, folk as “low c”, soft as “fin” to put an end to the album. besides, it’s not hard to notice the ghost of the beatles in some of their pieces of music. 9 tracks but great enough.　-- 糖

art brut - bang bang rock and roll

　 　近年 new wave/post-punk 樂潮完全復甦，零四年有 franz ferdinand、razorlight、the futureheads、the killers 等紅透半邊天，零五年上半年已有 bloc party、the bravery、kaiser chiefs、maximo park 等觸目的名字出現。　new wave/post-punk 當道之至，仿彿也令眾老牌 brit-pop 樂隊們黯然失色。

　　縱觀現今 new wave/post-punk 的"懷舊"熱潮，新名字雖不斷湧現，但音樂上大都如倒模般，不是加進跳舞節拍，便是倚靠電音催化。　不知是否花多眼亂、耳更亂，感覺上一隊一隊新樂隊大都 沒有個性，就像沒有靈魂的 me2 樂隊般。　喜見零五年頭突起 bloc party 的出現，bloc party 和其他樂隊明顯不同之處，除承繼 post-punk/art-punk 的風骨之外，由主音到 guitarist、bassist、drummer 無不有過人精鍊的之處，促使他們的音樂能夠直接打動聽眾，令這個 new wave/post-punk 樂潮生色不少。　

　　零五年中，來接棒的，有 art brut。
　　
　 　同樣來自英倫的四男一女五人行的 art-punk 樂隊，可以說是－－當 bloc party 遇上瘋狂主音，在音樂上，他們和 bloc party 的確來得有如同出一轍（連 guitar riff 也相似得有點過份）；但風格上， art brut 的粗獷爆炸力來得比 bloc party 更加強烈。　主音 eddie argos 擁有唱不爛的聲帶、用不盡的精力，無需 warm-up，音樂響起時已經進入狀態，十足有如搖滾巨星一樣。　擁有如此先天優勢，art brut 的音樂也正配合 eddie 的歌喉，完全充滿初生之犢、rock 得狠勁。

　　一曲 fight! 已極盡煽動之能事，不到幾句，eddie 已昂然大唱 "some people like things left unspoken, i perfer to have it out in the open" 這是就是搖滾的精神！彷彿要喚醒所有慣於沉默的一群。　他們還膽大大地宣告："we 're going to play 8 weeks in a row on top of the pops" 唱出 "haven't read the nme in so long, don't know what genre we belong. popular culture, no longer applies to me" 甚至 "i can't stand the sound of the velvet underground!"，不論是否戲言，但不禁欣賞他們無所忌諱、性格鮮明。

　　單曲 emily kane 是一首清爽無比的作品，有如 bubblegum-pop 般極易上口。　good weekend、bang bang rock and roll 都是聽得令人搖頭擺腦、不禁狂呼的大搖大滾作品，熾熱非常。　碟中低迴的 rusted guns of milan 乍聽之下以為是一首正正常常的陰暗 post-punk，描說的，卻是初夜的一時無能為力，eddie 還認真唱道 "don't tell your friend, don't tell your friend, i promise it wont ever happen again" 絕對抵死。

　　這就是那麼精彩的 art brut 那麼他媽的棒的搖滾唱片，看來 new wave/post-punk 風潮仍能持續多一段日子。

monta - where circles begin

　 　播放著這張唱片，一面聽著，一面打量著這張唱片究竟算是另類還是流行。　作為一張流行唱片，當然是市場因素行先、濫情至上，音樂上更談不上要來個甚麼 樣的突破；反之，我們通常會視為一張另類唱片（悲！）。　where circles begin 雖然有挺流行的作品但並不濫情，細聽之下還感覺到泛著淡淡的傷感情懷，這是一張很個人的專輯……

　　monta 是由德國樂團 miles 的 tobias kuhn 化身的 solo project，在有著雋永的 indie-pop 調子中顯露陰沉憂鬱的一面，處處帶有青蔥的苦澀味道。　就像仍有著赤子之心的都市人，輕盈地訴說著自身…　

　 　開首的 farewell dear ghost 是一首感人的告解，tobias 筆觸之真誠，讓人確信這正是他的親身體驗。　long live the quiet 算是全碟最青爽無比的作品，大唱 " long live the quiet, clam and divine, big-hearted grateful, unspokenly fine " 樂天非常。　tobias 更在碟中番唱了 depeche mode 的 in your room，比起原曲的陰暗迷幻，tobias 的 acoustic 版本來得簡樸動人。　碟尾的 parachute 娓娓道出 " i am a parachute unbound, to keep the feet back from the ground " 雖說離別，但竟如斯令人舒懷。

　　monta 並不需要大量修飾，他用簡約的音樂來營造他的音樂空間，並泛著淡淡的傷感情懷。

asobi seksu (self-titled)

　　七分十七秒的 it's too late，由如夢幻般的電結他和出塵的女聲帶動，已經非常迷人，中段的結他噪音和刷絃所綻放的暴烈直至抓狂……簡直令人醉生夢死。

　 　有著日籍女主音和日文名字卻根於紐約市的 noise-pop / sheogazer 樂團 asobi seksu 的確不簡單，聆聽著他們的處女唱片，總懷疑他們是一隊精煉的老手樂隊多於一隊初出矛盧的“初哥”。　碟內精品處處， sooner 是一首絕對讓人聽暢快的 noise-pop 傑作，taiyo 中的 groove bass-line 為這首已甚陽光的 cutie-pop 送上無限暖意。　放低電結他，碟尾的 acoustic 作品 before we fall 亦聽得叫人動容（有點似土炮 ketchup 的感覺…）。　和廣告稿一樣，喜愛 sheogazer 的樂迷不容錯過。

momus - otto spooky

　　零四年傳奇音樂人 momus (nick currie) 假 fringe club 的表演仍然歷歷在目，雖然年介四十五的他已甚"老餅"，其別具一格的電子民謠和知性文字創作往往都予人驚喜，加上他的傳奇一生，真的慶幸能夠親眼目睹這位音樂人的現場表演。　

　 　到唱片鋪買下 momus 於柏林灌錄的最新專輯 otto spooky 時，真的十分期待今次 momus 帶給我們一張甚麼樣的專輯，因為他是 momus 啊，打從八六年開始，momus 的產量十分驚人（接近一年一張專輯，踏入二千年才稍為慢下來），音樂上路上亦多姿多采。　雖然今次 momus 帶來了另一張 electronic-folk based 的專輯，但依然予人驚喜，聆聽時可順便瀏覽 momus 的網頁（momus 最近對熱衷於他的網上世界，時常在其網頁中與樂迷交流並放上 demo、essay、生活照等等，可以說是 momus 全接觸！），momus 對碟內作品都附加了資料，看過絕對令人加深對其作品的認識。

　　比起 summerisle 的分拆上市，這張專輯的確好多了。

pelle carlberg - go to hell, miss rydell

　 　喜歡瑞典清新樂隊 edson 的樂迷，不應錯過其 frontman - pelle carlberg 的最新處男 ep，其聲音真摰依然。　音樂上，pelle 別來無恙的歌聲已甚殺食，換上比 edson 更簡樸的編曲配樂更 personal 的內容（點題曲 go to hell, miss rydell 竟是不滿樂評人的幼稚發洩，beer built this beautiful body 第一句已是 "i bought a deodorant today" 真的笑了出來。），處處都是 pelle 為人所熟悉的曲風。　

　 　直得一提的是碟內重唱在 unwind with edson 中的一曲 before i was smart，效果比原曲更幽怨動人。　在 pelle 的 offical site 中另有一曲 oh no! it's happening again 供下載。

l'altra - different days

　　這陣子完全沉醉於 l'altra 所建構的空間，簡直是 the right music at the right time，在不同的時空、不同的心情下，能夠找到令自己完全融入其中的音樂，是多麼奇妙的事情噢！（連唱片封面都是這麼的美！）

　 　different days 已經是這隊根植於美國芝加哥的 sad-core / post-rock 樂團的第三張專輯，此時，合作無間的 lindsay anderson 和 joseph costa 已成 l'altra 的代名詞。　最令人欣賞的，是他們的傷感歌調中有著一層濃厚的氛圍感，另外他們溫文儒雅的詞和輕柔的男女合唱，絕對叫人聽得舒懷、傷感。

　 　開首的 sleepless night 在有如蟬叫的 sampling 和淡淡的鋼琴聲的交響樂團下已經令整個大氣濃得化不開，在 lindsay 動聽柔揚的歌聲推進下，這個失眠夜亦可美得出神。　同樣令人聽得舒懷的 better than bleeding ，寫的卻是悲傷得要命的情感，jospeh 和 lindsay 合唱 "better than bleeding, no helping, no danger, no welcoming" 完全給避世人來個苦中作樂。

　　如果只聽 l'altra 的音樂，不留意他們的歌詞委實太浪費，他們的詞實在有如詩篇般溫文儒雅。　there is no 有如進入了冰冷的異境／夢鄉，如獨白般媚媚道出 "there is no love without, there is no with without love, there is no without with love, there is no with without" 聽得令人心碎。

　　傷感歌曲在碟內比比皆是，唯一的 different days 是比較輕快而有朝氣的曲目，帶有 mum 味的有趣 sampling 是他們最陽光的一次。　這張專輯也許並不是什樣的驚為天人，但絕對讓人聽得舒適，適合黃昏時分收聽。

daft punk - human after all

　 　久違的打崩音樂再度歸來，雖然上一張專輯 discovery 已是 2001 年的出品，但打崩郤從來都給人動作多多的活躍份子。　2003 年 crossover 松本零士的音樂動畫 interstella 5555 中亦有帶來 daft club 的一張 re-mix 專輯，好像不想給人忘記他們的模樣，亦直接延續 discovery 的商業成就。　discovery 之所以成功，是因為它並不是一張純粹踢腦音樂的專輯，其變化多端的取樣和 song-based 曲目絕對給人耳目一新。

　　從唱機轉出 的打崩新作 human after all 時，一下子就認出這是熟悉的打崩曲風， vocoder 加上結他 riff 的 mixing 似乎是打崩的拿手好戲， robot rock 更像是電子版 rocky 出場般的模樣，它們回來了。　僅用了六星期便灌出來的新專輯明顯加入更多結他聲音，像 make love 中的溫婉結他 muting 令打崩從未如此寫意， television rules the nation 中的 metal riff 就像 aerodynamic 的把戲一樣，塑造出電子金屬結他英雄般的氣勢。　

　　另外碟尾的 emotion 是打崩少有比較 chill-out 些的取向，大有 noise-pop 味道。　新碟比較失望的，是他們不見得有任何特別之處的全踢腦曲目。　看一看 song list 再加點想像，我認為，打崩應該又有別的鬼主意吧。

the dears 迷失末世的生命力

　 　回想起早在幾年前，在戲院安安穩穩地看 volcano、independence day 等災難片時，只感受到荷李活式的另類刺激，並沒有甚麼特別震撼；高中看唐山大地震雖然慘不忍睹，但也只是像讀歷史鴻圖之中的一角，總不會立即讓人居安思危 起來。　時移世易，社會越進步人類越失落。　在面對各種天災人禍、恐怖主義時，人們越見脆弱不安，恍如驚弓之鳥般崇拜武力、求神問卜，怪力亂神、末日呼聲 不斷。　

　　聽罷 the dears 的 no cities left ，聯想到的是卻是現在的生活。　來自加拿大滿地可的獨立樂隊在零三年已經弄出這張優秀的作品，如同碟名所指，no cities left 是一張以末日亂世為材的概念專輯。　由開首的 we can have it 講述一夜之間的突變到結尾的 no cities left 的閉幕，正是一個旅程、一個經歷，有黑暗，有光明。

　　幕一　"last night all the horrible"
　　鍵琴響起，主角娓娓道來身邊發生的巨變。　現在所失去的，並不只是一個棲身之所，還有身邊的一切，一切以往的生活。

　　幕二　"it's not a confrontation, we are here because we are broke"
　　一切東西已經失序，並沒有任何人清楚知道該做些什麼。　我們來到你面前，並不是要討甚麼，為甚麼不能相信我們一起能解決問題？

　　這已不是甚麼科幻小說的情節了

　 　the dears 之所以被譽為加拿大 black morrissey 是因為其打造出一首首具黑暗色彩而寫實地描繪世情的作品，它們並非一些一聽便喜歡的音樂，但就像純酒一樣，慢慢便會喜歡上。　長達八分鐘的 epic 曲目 expect the worst/'cos she's a tourist 由提琴拉奏出有如歌劇般氣勢磅礡的前奏竟轉變成 uplift 非常的騷靈音樂。　lost in the plot 的爽勁和 the second part 送上暖意無限的調子，算是 the dears 較有陽光氣息的作品並且勵志非常。

　　no cities left 令人聽得最欣喜的是 the dear 的正面信息，在碟中如 who are you, defenders of the universe?, lost in the plot 等都處處在苦澀中流露樂天的人生觀。　全碟最溫暖的曲目莫過於醉人的 warm and sunny days 溫婉的結他聲配合上 murray 歌聲，出奇的 chill-out。

　　"for life"

　　現在，我們更需要信心和勇氣去面對生活，因為，失去生命力才是人類的末日。　這是我從 the dears 的身上得到的啟示。　誠意推介 no cities left！

　 　no cities left 早在零三年四月在加拿大本土發行，在當地獨立樂圈叫好不叫座。　直到零四年十月才由 spinart 和 bella union 聯手帶到歐美再版。　考慮到專輯過長關係， us 版抽起 don't lose the faith 改由 acd 形式補上 lost in the plot mv。　no cities left 零四年尾被 nme 選為 albums of 2004 的第十位。　零五年的我才迷上 the dears。　no cities left 的一天才聽 no cities left 也許會太遲。

　 　零四年出品，來自英國的四人樂團，其音樂包容性絕對來得驚艷。　你可以聽到他們大玩 sampling、metal、post-rock、高壓電子等不同的原素，高實驗性包容性而又難得找到其刺激的交融點，一張他媽的精彩出眾的專輯。　有 興趣可以在 white noise records 找到他們的唱片。

low - the great destoryer

　 　美國三人 sad-core 樂隊繼零四年的 a lifetime of temporary relief boxset 後的新專輯，聽到的是嘈吵起來的 low。　開首的 monkey 和 everybody's song 在雄厚的鼓擊和結他 riff 帶動下所發出重型動力甚有氣勢。　去掉傷感的，有 california 和 just stand back 等清爽無比的搖滾曲式。　描述對浮華厭倦的 broadway (so many people) 本是另一首有著清爽調子的美式搖滾，但中間主唱和音如夢幻般嗓子帶出的，郤是甚有 post-rock 味道的演奏。
　　
　　low 最美的，仍是他們的傷感曲調，一曲 death of a salesman 在短短的兩分半鐘，已叫人心碎不已。　the great destroyer 是一張徘徊於低沈和激昂的唱片，看見樂隊原始的一面。

dreamend - as if by ghosts

　 　零 四年和 monster movie 聯袂發表 preface e.p. 無疑令到這支名不經傳的 post-rock 樂團得到更多人的留意。　同屬 graveface records 的 dreamend 幾乎也和 monster movie 同一時間發表他們的最新專輯 as if by ghosts... （大家也是限量版），比起 monster movie 的 transistor 這陣子我更愛 dreamend 的溫文儒雅。

　　dreamend 和其他 post-rock 樂團不同之處，是他們祭出如夢境般美好的曲調。　of ravens and winds 的典雅女聲、ellipsis 的鈴聲都聽得令人愜意，the almighty 由急快的敲擊和結他勾絃帶動到如狂風雨打的 post-rock 式狂飆，絕不拖泥帶水。

kasabian - kasabian

　 　總覺得某期 mcb 的封面應該是 kasabian 而並不是 the music。　來自英國 leicester 被冠以新 primal scream 的迷幻樂隊的折衷音樂雖然不教驚為天人，但不得不佩服他們的處男大碟絕對超水準，幾乎曲曲皆精，混種而來的快感。

　 　這 次法蘭西二人電子組合 air 帶來盡是浪漫美麗的作品，一首首電影感強的電子作品。　就算 vocoder 女聲的像真度不教你驚奇，碟內一曲電影 Lost In Translation 的 soundtrack : alone in kyoto 定能令你心動不已，觸動心靈。

　 　hip hop/rap music 從不是我杯茶，the streets 卻是少數的例外。　uk garage 紅人 mike skinner 的後繼專輯繼續其萬花筒般的音樂包容特質，加上各種生活上的題材，a grand dont come for free 比前作多一份感性得來繼續精彩，進一步証明 the streets 絕對是一名知性樂手。

mum - summer make good

　　餘下三人來自冰島的 mum 的電子樂團繼續發出娓娓之音，比起 finally we are no one 的甜美，今倘帶來的卻是蒼涼和孤寂。　別豎一格的美學。

patrick wolf - lycanthropy

　 　愛 爾蘭出身的 patrick-denny wolf （真名？）名副其實是個唱作人，在碟中包辦曲詞編演。　patrick 的音樂是由古典音樂民謠加上電子 sampling 混合而成的 laptop folk，令人驚嘆的是其音樂造詣，在 pigeon song 般雋永民謠和結尾的 epilogue 如詩的純音樂中表露無遺。　當然，patrick wolf 的 lapton folk 取向是碟中的重點，包羅電子音效、工業噪音、vocoder、還有像 bloodbeat 中的跳舞完素等，值得一提是 patrick wolf 唱得也夠放和投入（留意 the chlidcatcher）。　最後，他現在只有二十歲左右而已，九四年開始創作。

whence he came - the shorter story

　 　本 地完全驚喜之作，由開場 finer lights and fairytales 的鬼魅纏繞到清涼爽勁既 the lonely road 直至 the saddening picture 的結尾，無處不顯示著樂隊的精力充沛，講求編排又不失一氣呵成， finer lights and fairytales 有如吸納著 post rock 那著重凝聚氣氛而來（尤其是那些鼓擊），音效處理非常得心應手，處處給人一種成熟感覺。

polar - comes with a smile

　　西班牙四人樂隊譜出一首首真摯動人的民謠式歌曲，寫出溫暖美好的旋律像是他們的拿手好戲。　碟內最令人驚喜的是 post-rock 曲目的 home 歌曲編排高低起伏淋漓盡致， come with a smile 是一張如夢幻般令人愜意的出色作品。

　 　來 自蘇格蘭格拉斯哥樂隊的 franz ferdinand 絕對是今年英倫樂壇的焦點。　一首首原始的 80s 流行搖滾加上跳舞原素竟能調較出如斯令人興奮雀躍的音樂，是由搖滾帶動的原始快感。　當 2004 眾樂隊如 franz ferdinand, keane 等冒起之際，franz ferdinand 絕對是當中最得人認同的單位。

the cure - the cure

　 　發 福不少的哥德搖滾教主回歸，廿五年歷史的英國哥德後崩樂隊 the cure 已是 robert smith 的代號。　今次的 the cure 迷幻少了，換上直接了當的重形搖滾， robert smith 既聲線蒼白依然，碟內喜見有如 the end of the world 和 taking off 的爽朗流暢作品。

printer - absence

　 　不太吵耳的電子音樂加上美好的旋律往往令我沉迷醉倒，所以 the flaming lips 和 grandaddy 一直是我的心頭好，從未間斷。　近來，在某二手 CD 店購下 2003 年發表的 Printer - Absence (mini album) 把我迷倒了。　

　　一行四人來自丹麥的 Printer 是由 Mads Hein (Vocal), Mikkel Hien (Bass & keyboards), Lars Pellarin (Beats & production) 和 Thomas Norreby (Guitar & keyboards) 所組成的電子搖滾樂隊。　毫無疑問，冰冷而溫暖的電聲處理是 Printer 最觸動人之處，開首的 Police and Locals 和 Lullaby Lusts 在冰冷的電子節拍之下，郤有一點點充滿暖意的 Synth/結他聲迴盪著，再加上主音麾麾的歌聲，就是像黑暗中的一束燈光或是遇上晨光而溶解中的積雪，不盡是冰冷。　

　　 Printer 的詞總是有著蒼白和空虛的意境，蒼涼的 Blank 籠罩著的幽閉氣氛絕對避世，"it's cool to be blank." 是訴說並不是控訴。　一聽 just a leaf 便明白為甚麼在官方網頁中發布的簡介中有 sigur ros 的名字，優良出塵的 post-rock 之音絕對是碟中重要的作品。

　　剛巧正在讀的一本寓言中寫道：「如果您要知道環繞周遭的黑暗有多少，您必須睜亮眼睛，凝視遙遠的微弱光芒。」　Printer 的音樂也許是：「先要令自己冰冷起來，才能感受到那一絲的暖意。」。　希望這唱片不會令你變得更孤獨冷酷。

　　ps：得知他們即將發表他們的 full-length 大碟已到最後混音階段時，真的想出發（發夢）到丹麥搶先購下，先聽為快。

　　掂！THE STREETS (Mike Skinner) 最正既地方係可以生動又過癮咁描述城市生活，加上新鮮搶耳既音樂，絕加掂。　2002 年憑處男大碟 original pirate material 平地一聲雷亦都絕對唔意外。

　 　2004 年既 a grand dont come for free 冇爛尾繼續精彩繼續鬼馬，搞鬼既有 it was supposed to be so easy, not addicted 同 fit but you know it ， 描述感情到生活的有 could well be in, dry your eyes, wouldnt have it any other way 。　辛辣既有 get out of my house, such a twat (twat 係粗口黎) ， 其中 what is he thinking 既氣勢大有上隻碟 the irony of it all 既延續。　

　　好似我呢 d 英文差既人最好 download 定歌詞，保正越聽越過癮！

momus and anne laplantine - summerisle

　 　唔係 momus 呢五個字都未必會買呢隻碟．．．咁樣講好似好樣衰，但自從係 momus (Nick Currie) 網頁聽過睇過讀過佢既一 d artwork 之後對佢產生興趣。　再睇一睇係 allmusic 既 biography 更加覺得佢好傳奇，好似一個活生生的吟詩遊人一樣咁神奇 ( 個女朋友俾人迫婚，佢同女朋友一齊著草流亡外國，順便環遊世界，探討各地音樂文化 ，近幾年仲變埋獨眼龍添〔真係傷左，做過手術〕)。

　　Summerisle 係由一套 70 年代黑白恐怖片 "The Wicky Man" 所啟發出來，由 momus 錄好人聲之後交由 anne laplantine re-arrange 同配樂， anne laplantine 在某訪問中亦直言唔知 momus 唱乜，我就更加聽唔出，一時英文一時日文一時火星文．．．但 momus 把聲始終都好掂。　需然 M 記有推薦 Summerisle 係現代 computer-folk 既典範傑作云云，但絕對唔代表 Summerisle 容易消化。 anne laplantine 在某訪問中亦表明佢造音樂個時冇考慮到 "The Wicky Man" 呢套戲既 idea ，同埋佢創作個時首先做好一段音樂，然後就將其斬件隨機併貼並認為咁先夠潮 (a contemporary writing including incidents and errors)，零碎既敲擊＋淡淡電子結他撥弄真係唔易搭得有味，太虛。

　　對我黎講 Summerisle 並不適合細意收聽，人地 random 撞出黎既野你逐逐粒音符走去嗒就一定會滯，閒來當家居音樂來播，拿個 feel 都幾好。

　 　Anne: "There are a lot of little mistakes that I would have changed if I’d have the time. ... "Summerisle" was recorded during the spring. The spring was just too short, I think."

22 cats - all the good people will shine

　　20040529 放工就順便搭丁丁去銅鑼灣 WhiteNoice 度望下，之前冇睇清楚就諗住撞上去，今次做曬功課 - 樓下大門是配匙和首飾店就唔該早單聲啦。　其實 WhiteNoice 都有幾多碟係其他地方搵到，都唔係太 rare，個價又差唔多總算多個地方行下。　今次另一個目的就係買 22cats 同埋佢地既 live 飛。　中午買碟跟住去考試，考完煲下隻碟，唔係太差既就去睇 live 支持下。

　　帶住輕鬆既心情準時 1930 去到，企左成四五個字先開始，個 mood 當堂冇左大半。　好耐冇睇過本地 band show，唔知係咁聽多左唔同類型既音樂，以前去親 band show 都覺得有一兩隊好噪，今次反而覺得唔夠噪，哈，個 mc 猛咁叫觀眾噪 d high d 但係都冇人理佢，情況就好似扯皮條叫個嫖客同個無牙阿婆玩得喪 d 咁。

　　講番隻七首 mini-album，"真實的嘴臉" 淺白歌詞玩味十足加上尾段 3 分鐘音樂高潮起伏一氣呵成，掂！　"Jasper" 同 "Let music be the food of love" 都清新可喜。　至於其他 track 就 ．．．講真麻麻．．．

　 　愛爾蘭唱作人 Damien Rice 係 2003 年推出既處男大碟 O ，有著一種特別既民謠音樂和不一樣的演繹方式。　初次邂逅 Damien 既歌聲便覺得：　點解條麻甩佬把聲咁乾既…　的確，Damien 既歌聲並不出眾，但唱出黎既感情同味道就搭救曬有凸。　cannonball, the blower's daughter, cheers darlin' 等都表現出佢個種好乾但好有個人風格既唱功。　

　　講述在溺斃之前對上主呼喚既 cold water 幽怨動人， 好似含住啖口水唱歌咁。　本來浸緊應該越唱越弱，豈料郤越唱越雄壯…　i remember 非常特別，前半部份由女聲娓娓道來的愛慕之意，後半部份卻是男主角自我掙扎，緊張既高潮的確係男主角內心特寫。

　　what the hell you want ?

　 　基本上用一個 folk 來形容 Damien Rice 既音樂，非常勉強。尤其事聽到 hidden track - prague 由低迴到高昂扭曲的撕叫…　無奈既戰爭…　成隻碟都在唱盤上轉了不知多少次，早已到了該厭倦的次數，但當音樂再度響起，我並不想按停。

uncle joe - from the towers of this city i can still see your promises

　　對 uncle joe 既喜愛從 send home to victoria 開始, 雖然只是一隻 5 曲 EP, 也令人對他們留下深刻印象. 令我驚喜非常的並不是 i cried today 或 not tomorrow, 而是獨特風格的 an exhortation to humility, and it feels so strange 同埋 a song about a psalm 能夠平伏心靈.

　　相隔 3 年才施施然推出既大碟真是令人望穿秋水 (幸好自己只是今年才購回第一張EP :p) 所聽到既聲音已經有很大改變...

　　uncle joe 形容今次大碟主題係'希望', 點題曲目 from the towers of this city i can still see all your promises 在結他勾線下所散發出的竟是蒼涼的意境, 加上緩緩既喇叭下更見冷清, 歌詞上反映都市人對生活既無奈同空虛多於結尾的 from the towers... 所表達的那一直存在的 '曙光'.

　　2002 年發表既 sometimes, 生猛搶耳, 但和接著的幾首一樣令我擔心在 send home.. EP 所喜歡的曲式不再.

　　恭 碩良既協力的確令 uncle joe power up 左, 但我認為真正既擦出火花的合作, 真到 It's the begining > not the end 和 stay with me 才出現. 由 muted guitar + 清聲鋼線作開始, 再接上是恭碩良招牌鼓擊的 It's the begining > not the end 的確是最令人聽得起勁... "it's the beginning, not the end it's time for something else" 聽得令人振奮.

　　同樣是率先試聽的 the silent rooms, 低迴既結他 intro, 纏繞不斷, 令我尋回想聽到的東西.

　　row across the sea 令人聯想起昔日既音樂, 有點懷舊

　　充滿 R&B 底蘊 drum stroke + 上迷幻結他聲的 it's your still small voice 正如袁總所說, 滲透著 uplifting 意味, 舒懷釋懷, nice try !

　　聽沒有用最清脆最清脆既結他, 沒有刻意減底聲浪, 驚喜地奏出一段段和諧的都市音樂, 這就是附在 uncle joe 音樂上的 esprit 吧!

　　如 uncle joe 說, from the towers.... 的確本地樂隊唱片中, 其中一隻最獨特最好的.

　　ps: andrew 的歌聲仍有進步的空間吧.
